Terms
The rules for using AnyConvert: what you may convert, what the plans include, and what we do and do not promise.
Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer
This describes how the product is built to behave and is written to be accurate rather than complete. It is not legal advice and it has not been checked against the law of any particular country. Company details, the governing jurisdiction and the data-protection contact all still need filling in before launch.
01Using the service
Using AnyConvert means accepting these terms. If you use it on behalf of a company, you are confirming you can agree to them for that company. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
02Your files stay yours
We claim no ownership of anything you upload or produce. You keep every right you had before, and converting a file here does not give us a licence to it beyond the technical one needed to perform the conversion you asked for.
What happens to the file afterwards is set out in the privacy policy.
03What you may not do
You agree not to use the service to:
- Upload anything you do not have the right to convert, including material that infringes someone else’s copyright.
- Upload illegal material, or anything designed to harm a person or a system.
- Get around the limits of your plan, whether by script, by multiple accounts, or otherwise.
- Automate access outside the documented API, or resell the service as your own.
- Attempt to disrupt the service or gain access to parts of it that are not yours.
We may suspend an account that does any of this. Where the breach is serious we may do so without warning.
04Plans and limits
Every plan carries limits — file size, how many files you can convert at once, and how much conversion time you get each month. Current figures are on the pricing page and in your dashboard, and those are the limits that apply.
Limits can change. If one is reduced on a plan you are already paying for, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may cancel for a refund of the unused part of the term.
05Payment, renewal and refunds
Paid plans are billed in advance and renew automatically until you turn renewal off, which you can do at any time from billing in your dashboard. Turning it off keeps your plan running to the end of the period you have paid for.
If the service does not do what this page says it does, contact us and we will refund you. We do not refund a period simply because it went unused.
Prices can change. An increase never applies to a period you have already paid for.
06Availability
We work to keep the service running and do not promise it always will be. It may be unavailable for maintenance, for a failure at a provider we depend on, or for reasons outside our control. Where a paid plan states an uptime commitment, that commitment applies and this paragraph does not override it.
07What we do not promise
Conversion between formats is not always lossless, and some conversions cannot preserve everything — fonts, layout, metadata, colour profiles and embedded objects can all change or be dropped. We do not promise a converted file will be identical to the original in any respect other than the format.
Keep your originals. The service is not a backup, and a converted file is not a substitute for the file it came from.
08Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data or indirect loss.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
09Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, from Privacy & data. We may close an account that breaches these terms. Either way, stored files are deleted and any unused paid period is refunded unless the account was closed for a breach.
10Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will give notice on the site before it applies. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new version.
11Governing law
The governing law and the courts with jurisdiction need to be stated here before these terms are published. Both follow from where the company is registered, which is not yet settled.
